On May 28, 2024, 2 volunteers from The Food Lounge served at Community Garden Kitchen in McKinney, Texas. They completed tasks such as sorting/drying dishes, cleaning tables, and sweeping floors as part of Community Garden Kitchen’s Weeknight Dinner Service. Overall, they were part of a group that served a total of 149 patrons, addressing food insecurity within the DFW Metroplex. We’re highly thankful for their service!

On May 25th, 2024, 10 student volunteers completed community service at 3515 Metropolitan Avenue, Dallas. They served 240 hot meals which included a hot dog, a bag of chips, a cookie, and water to the homeless community.

On May 18th, 2024, 10 student volunteers from The Food Lounge volunteered at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) in Richardson, Texas. The volunteers from The Food Lounge packed a total of 25 boxes, providing 5400 meals to those in need. At the session overall, volunteers packed 37 boxes of food, equal to 7992 meals and enough to feed 21 kids for a year. These meals will be sent to El Salvador and distributed to those in need.

Volunteers packed and served 202 meals, with each meal including a hot dog, ketchup, a bag of chips, a serving of fruit, a bag of candy, and a bottle of water. Scott, a member of the Cathedral of Hope, provided the 202 sausages used in the hot dogs, 210 bags of chips, 144 candy, 128 bottles of water, and a box of apples.

On April 20th, 2024, 16 student volunteers and 4 adult volunteers from The Food Lounge volunteered at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) in Richardson. The volunteers from The Food Lounge packed a total of 30 boxes, providing 6480 meals to those in need. At the session overall, volunteers packed 100 boxes of food, equivalent to 21,600 meals, which feeds 59 kids for a year. These meals were sent to Honduras where they will be distributed to those in need.

On April 13, 13 members of The Food Lounge packed food boxes at Feed My Starving Children. 25 boxes were packed during the session by the volunteers, containing 5400 meals to be shipped to Guatemala to feed the underprivileged. The members displayed hard work and enthusiasm during their time packing meals.
April 13, 2024 (Saturday) – 3515 Metropolitan Ave, Dallas
On 4/13, members of The Food Lounge completed community service at 3515 Metropolitan Avenue, Dallas. Volunteers packed and served 280 hot meals, including chicken, vegetables, and pasta, a bag of chips, cookies, and a bottle of water. Volunteers also distributed gently used clothes, shoes, socks, and backpacks collected from community donations in the DFW area. Scott, a member of the Cathedral of Hope, provided the 80 pounds of chicken and 50 pounds of carrots used in the meal preparation, 300 bags of chips, and a portion of the cookies.

On April 6, 2024, 15 student volunteers and 4 adult volunteers from The Food Lounge came together and volunteered at Feed My Starving Children in Richardson, Texas. Together, they packed 38 boxes of food, equaling to 8,208 meals. Volunteers of The Food Lounge and other volunteers at the session collectively packed 141 boxes of food, equating to 30,456 meals and 83 kids fed for a year. Our volunteers were thrilled to break our box-packing record and help those in Nicaragua!

On March 23rd, 2024, 15 student volunteers and 4 adult volunteers from The Food Lounge volunteered at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) in Richardson, TX. At the session overall, volunteers packed 86 boxes of food, equivalent to 18,576 meals, which feeds 50 kids for a year. These meals will be sent to Peru where they will be given.

They made 200 meals, each with a ham and cheese sandwich, a bottle of water, a bag of chips, a granola bar, and some candy. The volunteers are very grateful to be able to work with Making it Count to provide lunch sacks to those in need!

On March 16, 2024, 7 student volunteers completed community service at The Samaritan Inn. They made 80 sandwiches and lunch bags for the Bag Lunch Brigade program which provides sack lunches for the residents of the homeless shelter. We also donated 258 toothbrushes and 300 toothpastes to this shelter.
March 16, 2024 (Saturday) – Community Garden Kitchen, McKinney
On March 16, twelve members of The Food Lounge went to the Community Garden Kitchen to make sandwiches for those in need. In total, they made 100 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and packed them into lunch bags with an apple, a bottle of water, crackers, and a granola bar. 40 of these meals were distributed by volunteers at a local gas station to those in need. Overall, the students had a blast touring the garden and packing lunches for a new organization with whom they look forward to cooperating in the future!

On March 11, 2024, 15 student volunteers from The Food Lounge helped the Lovepacs non-profit organization to move cardboard boxes to the Plano Recycling Center. We are very grateful for this opportunity to help an organization that gives back to those in need.

A total of 22 boxes, equivalent to 4752 meals, were packed in the session. The team worked hard and showed strong team spirit during the event.
September 30, 2023 (Saturday) – Victory Christian Church, McKinney
On Sept 30th, 12 volunteers from the Food Lounge participated in L.I.F.T. R&R’s yearly donation event. We passed out backpacks, and helped pass out lunches, clothes and other items. We also helped loading furniture and assisting the families in need with carrying their items to their cars using wagons and by hands. A total of 45 qualified families received the much needed support today.

July 20 to August 17 – Cathedral of Hope, Dallas
From July 20th to August 17th, Food Lounge volunteers partnered with Cathedral of Hope and packed food every Thursday. In total, 210 boxes of food were packed to serve people in need. Afterwards, the volunteers helped clean up the operation. We appreciate the opportunity given for us to serve the community.

11 Students from The Food Lounge Volunteered at the Feed My Starving Children Organization. We packed a total of 35 boxes which totaled up to 7,560 meals. We are grateful to be given this opportunity to work with FMSC and help feed kids living in Eswatini.
August 12, 2023 (Saturday) – 3515 Metropolitan Ave, Dallas
On August 12th, members of The Food Lounge completed community service with Making It Count for Donation to Homeless. Our volunteers donated 160 snack bags, 160 bottles of water, 160 bottles of drinks, fruits and 40 women’s hygiene bags to Dallas Metropolitan local homeless individuals. We appreciate all volunteers’ time and efforts. We give special thanks to the Taste of Hope for their generous donation of some of the food items.
August 6, 2023 (Sunday) – Packing for Domestic Violence Project, Plano
15 volunteers from The Food Lounge came together to pack women’s hygiene bags. In total they packed 200 bags, each one filled with a toothbrush, toothpaste, body wash, towel, granola bar, mini-lollipops, and some feminine pads. These bags will go to women at different local shelters. We are so grateful to have been given this opportunity to help women in our community.
August 5, 2023 (Saturday) – FMSC, Richardson
Ten students from The Food Lounge volunteered at the Feed My Starving Children organization. They packed a total of 24 boxes of MannaPack rice, which is equivalent to 5,184 meals. We are so glad to be given the opportunity to work with FMSC and help feed kids living in Ukraine.
August 2, 2023 (Wednesday) – Emily’s Place, Plano
Three members from The Food Lounge dropped off backpacks and toys at Emily’s Place, a shelter for women and children who have experienced domestic violence. These items will be given to kids living in the shelter for when they start school. We are very glad to be able to help get these students ready for the upcoming school year.

Sixteen students from The Food Lounge volunteered at the Feed My Starving Children organization. They packed a total of 42 boxes, which is equivalent to 9,072 meals. We are so glad to be given the opportunity to work with FMSC and help feed kids living in Honduras.

Three members from The Food Lounge dropped off backpacks and toys at The Salvation Army of McKinney. These items will be given to kids in need who are starting school on August 9th. We are very glad to be able to help get these students ready for the upcoming school year.

14 students from The Food Lounge volunteered at the Feed My Starving Children organization and packed a total of 28 boxes for Honduras, which is equivalent to 6048 meals. We are so glad to be given the opportunity to work with FMSC and help feed kids in need.
July 28, 2023 (Friday) – Victory Church, McKinney
On July 28, 2023, 2 student volunteers and 1 adult volunteer from The Food Lounge delivered backpacks and soft toys to Victory Church in McKinney, Texas. These items will be given to kids in need in the neighborhood. Our volunteers are so proud of their contribution to help the kids have a great start for the upcoming school year.

On July 26, 2023, 12 student volunteers and 3 adult volunteers from The Food Lounge came together and volunteered at Feed My Starving Children in Richardson, Texas. Together, they packed 38 boxes of food, equaling 8208 meals. Volunteers from The Food Lounge and other participants at the session collectively packed 151 boxes of food, equating to 32,616 meals, which can feed 89 kids for a year.
July 22, 2023 (Saturday) – FMSC, Richardson
On July 22, 2023, 17 student volunteers and 4 adult volunteers from The Food Lounge came together and volunteered at Feed My Starving Children in Richardson, Texas. Together, they packed 30 boxes of food, equaling to 6,480 meals. Volunteers of The Food Lounge and other volunteers at the session collectively packed 112 boxes of food, equating to 24,192 meals and 66 kids fed for a year.
July 22, 2023 (Saturday) – 3515 Metropolitan Ave, Dallas
12 volunteers from The Food Lounge came together at 3515 Metropolitan, Dallas to pack sandwiches and serve lunch bags to the homeless community. With Making It Count, in total they distributed 480 meals. We are so glad to be given this opportunity to help people in our community with fighting hunger!

On July 19, 2023, 11 students and 3 adults from The Food Lounge volunteered at Feed My Starving Children in Richardson, Texas. With a focused, dedicated attitude, they packed 34 boxes of food, equating to 7,344 meals. The entire group of volunteers at the session efficiently packed 148 boxes of food, providing 31,968 meals and feeding 87 kids for a year.These meals will be sent to Honduras, benefitting those in need!
July 15, 2023 (Saturday) – FMSC, Richardson
On July 15, 2023, 17 student volunteers and 5 adult volunteers from The Food Lounge came together and volunteered at Feed My Starving Children in Richardson, Texas. Together, they packed 29 boxes of food, equaling to 6,264 meals. Volunteers of The Food Lounge and other volunteers at the session collectively packed 66 boxes of food, equating to 14,256 meals and 39 kids fed for a year. This broke the previous record for two tables packing, which was 60. Our volunteers were thrilled to break this record and help those in Peru!
July 15, 2023 (Saturday) – The Samaritan Inn, McKinney
Seven members of The Food Lounge packed 80 meals for the residents of the homeless shelter. They also donated 40 backpacks, USB flash drives, headphones, and 100 binders for the Back-to-School Drive at The Samaritan Inn. The volunteers were so grateful to have this opportunity to help those in need.

On July 12, 2023, these volunteers completed community service at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). They helped pack a total of 23 boxes of food, equivalent to 4,968 meals for Peru. Together with volunteers from organizations, they packed a total of 18,360 MannaPack Rice meal bags in this session, enough to feed 50 kids in need for an entire year.

Alongside volunteers from other organizations, we packed a total of 14,256 MannaPack Rice meals which will be enough to feed 39 kids in El Salvador for an entire year. On June 27, 2023, 7 student volunteers and 4 adult volunteers from The Food Lounge volunteered at the Feed My Starving Children organization. With their enthusiasm and excellent teamwork, they packed a total of 20 boxes of food packs, equivalent to 4,320 meals, during this session. Along with 5 other teams, they managed to pack an impressive 123 boxes, containing 26,568 meals, able to feed 72 kids for a year. Our volunteers are so proud of their contribution to saving the kids from hunger.

Eight members of The Food Lounge spent the afternoon on June 17th at the Samaritan Inn for our Bag Lunch Brigade Program, where we packed 82 meals for the residents of the homeless shelter. Each sack lunch contained snacks and a sandwich made by the volunteers. We are incredibly grateful to have this opportunity to volunteer at this amazing organization and give back to our community.

Our volunteers cooked 200 hot meals and got sponsored from 3 different local restaurants. They made special fired rice, spring rolls, dumplings, some beans and vegetables. They unpacked big boxes, made portable food packs with various individual snack items, served snack packs to those in need. They not only made 135 snack packs but also helped the Make It Count to re-pack extra 120 snack packs with bottled water. A total of 255 snack packs with bottled water and 300 hot meals were packed in this section.

On April 15, members of the Food Lounge completed community service at Lovepacs. Volunteers moved 100 boxes from Lovepacs Food Pantry Plano to Shepton High School.
April 9, 2023 (Sunday) – Love Field Inn, Dallas
This Easter Sunday, The Food Lounge, Caring Compassionate Hearts and Helping Hands, and Under my Umbrella distributed over 210 meals at the Dallas Love Field Inn. The Food Lounge prepared 120 Sandwich bags with a flavored drink mix, a water bottle and assorted snacks. Caring Compassionate Hearts and Helping Hands had more snacks, and a Large Grilled Chicken salad with dressing, an egg, and oyster crackers. Under my Umbrella provided clothes, hygiene products, and provided hot coffee and hot cocoa. In the spirit of Easter, plastic eggs were also handed out. Over 100 meals were packaged to give out to the homeless, and 7 food lounge volunteers helped with this event.

At the Dallas International Street Church, 9 volunteers came together to help serve 300 hot meals for the homeless community. We also made 250 snack bags filled with Easter themed desserts. We appreciate getting the opportunity to give back to the community while celebrating a major holiday.

March 12, 2023 (Sunday) – Caring Compassionate Hearts & Helping Hands with The Food Lounge, Dallas
On March 12, 20223, members from the Food Lounge made over eighty sandwiches and packed them with fruit snacks, cheese, as well as a muffin, into individual bags. They brought them to Dallas Love Field Inn. Then, the Food Lounge volunteers joined with Caring Compassionate Hearts & Helping Hands, Inc. , and the Say My Name Project provided hamburgers and chopped brisket sandwiches, served onsite, freshly warm. Together, all 3 organizations served burgers, sandwiches, snacks and drinks to the
unprivileged community. We finally took the leftover bags to another homeless community where we finished distributing. We ended up serving 200 meals.

Members of the Food Lounge completed community service on February 25th, 2023, along with Making It Count for Donation to Homeless Event. Volunteers donated 180 Goldfish mini bags and 152 bottles of water and packed 300 hot meals and snack bags for the event. They also received a donation of 358 dessert items and 90 Lunchables from the Taste of Hope. The collective delivered and distributed these items to people in need to Dallas International Church at 2706 Second Avenue. We appreciate all volunteers’ time and efforts. February 11, 2023 (Wednesday) – Valentine’s Day Homeless Donation, Dallas
Completed community service on February 11th, 2023 along with Making It Count for a Homeless Event. They distributed clean clothes along with 372 cookies, 80 bags of chocolate covered pretzels , 280 bottles of water, 50 bottles of hand sanitizer, 293 Hot Meals and 50 backpacks for the event. They delivered these items to the International Street Church in Dallas, and packed these items to hand out to those in need. We appreciate their time and effort with this important endeavor.

Feb 8 Wednesday Worship Wash Day was a true Blessing, we were able to have a Valentines party❤️we served 127 meals . the great plates of Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, peas, and carrots, we had snack packs , water , cupcakes. Thank you for the students donated the Quarters!
January 28, 2023 (Saturday) – Caring Compassionate Hearts and Helping Hands with The Food Lounge, Dallas
On January 28, 2023, 15 members of The Food Lounge worked with Making It Count to distribute donated clothing and food to low-income families at the Dallas International Street Church. During the event, volunteers worked together to prepare food and package bags that provided basic necessities, including water and hygienic items. In total, 300 hot meals along with various clothing of different sizes, were provided to those in need. Additionally, volunteers contributed a total of $90 worth in quarters to supply the homeless people with money for their Wednesday Wash Day, in which they use the quarters to use the washing machines for their clothes. The Food Lounge always hopes to impact the community positively and will continue to do so in future events.
January 21, 2023 (Saturday) – The Samaritan Inn, McKinney
The Samaritan Inn is a comprehensive homeless care program. They support families, men and women who live there long-term as they work toward self-sufficiency and independence. Most of the residents reside at The Samaritan Inn for around six months, so their needs may be a little different than a traditional shelter. Today, ten members of the Food Lounge packaged 83 meals, which consisted of sandwiches, granola bars, chips, and water. The Food Lounge hope to give back to the community each time we engage in these events, and we always hope to provide a helping hand to those less fortunate.
January 14, 2023 (Saturday) – Caring Compassionate Hearts and Helping Hands with The Food Lounge, Dallas
For the first event of the new year, 14 members of the Food Lounge worked with Making it Count to distribute donated clothes, snacks, and hot food to the homeless. Everybody worked together to package and distribute snack bags and cups of hot chicken noodle soup to those in need. We ended up packaging nearly 200 bags of water, fruit, and snacks and around 200 cups of soup. At first, the line was quite cramped and unorganized, but after a while, we were able to delegate tasks to each of the 14 members in order to streamline the process via a quickly organized assembly line. The teamwork and energy of the team was impeccable and we were able to become much more efficient at packing the bags.
December 31, 2002 (Saturday) – Making it Count with The Food Lounge, Dallas
For this event, 23 members of The Food Lounge worked with Making it Count to distribute donated clothing and hot food to the homeless. Everybody worked together to sort clothing and pack bags filled with food for those in need. We ended up with more than 1000 clothing items donated. As this was the last event of the year, it’s important to reflect on the positive impact we are having on our local community and plan how we can expand our efforts in 2023.
December 26, 2022 (Monday) – Cooking and Serving for Irving Homeless Shelter, Irving
Recently, the DFW area has been experiencing a time of great cold, with temperatures below freezing and even snow falling on one day. The Christ Church Inclement Weather Shelter provides an emergency shelter for Irving homeless during times of weather extreme. On December 26th, 9 members of The Food Lounge went to the shelter to serve breakfast for the homeless coming to this shelter. Members brought in a total of 204 breakfast sandwiches and 120 bananas. 144 sandwiches were cooked in the morning and served to the people at the shelter. 60 uncooked sandwiches were donated to the local church where they would be used to help the homeless the next day. The Food Lounge strives to continue helping less fortunate people in the area and inspiring other people to do so as well.
December 17, 2022 (Saturday) – The Samaritan Inn, McKinney
The Samaritan Inn is a comprehensive homeless care program. They support families, men and women who live there long-term as they work toward self-sufficiency and independence. Most of the residents reside at The Samaritan Inn for around six months, so their needs may be a little different than a traditional shelter. Today, ten members of the Food Lounge packaged 86 meals, which consisted of sandwiches, granola bars, chips, and water. The Food Lounge hopes to give back to the community each time we engage in these events, and we always hope to provide a helping hand to those less fortunate.
December 17, 2022 (Saturday) – Christmas Plano Children’s Hospital, Plano
Following last year’s event, The Food Lounge once again organized a toy drive and donated food to Children’s Health. In total, over 50 members participated in this event and collected over $1000 worth of toys and donated 150 hot meals(courtesy of local restaurants) to the Children’s Health staff. The Food Lounge hopes to give back to the community each time we engage in these events, and we always hope to provide a helping hand to those less fortunate.
December 17, 2022 (Saturday) – Chris Howell Christmas Food and Toy Distribution, Dallas
The Chris Howell Foundation provides programs and services to vulnerable communities that target health, wellness, and financial literacy disparities. Today, 16 members of The Food Lounge helped to pack and distribute food for those in need, as well as to hand out toys. Food boxes consisted of canned fruits and vegetables and dried goods, such as rice, nuts, and pasta. In addition, Food Lounge members handed out fresh fruits and drinks. The Food Lounge hopes to give back to the community each time we engage in these events, and we always hope to provide a helping hand to those less fortunate.
December 11, 2002 (Sunday) – Irving Homeless Shelter
On December 11, 2022, 6 of our food lounge members provided Christmas lights and Christmas tree installations. The Christmas holiday season is a special time of year that is filled with the warmth of family, and memories. Warm decorative lighting and displays greatly enhance the special experience that comes from this joyous time. Our teenagers worked as designers, installers, and staff of Christmas Decoration to help the shelter create a magical warm holiday experience for the homeless. We spread the joy of the Christmas holiday to the homeless.
December 3, 2022 (Saturday) – Metropolitan Food Drive and Delivery
On December 3, 2022, 15 of our food lounge members, partnered with Making It Count and Caring Compassion, to serve the homeless hot meal, snacks, and drinks, and provide clothing in downtown Dallas. First, we helped set up clothing on tarps and blankets for the homeless to collect, then, we began to make snack bags filled with treats and water. After that, groups of members went to different stations. As we began to serve at our stations, some helped with the hot foods such as hot dogs, and passed out snack bags and cold water. In total, we served 300 hot meals, 300 bottles of water, and 300 snack bags to the local homeless. Together, we are making a positive impact in our community.

On Saturday, November 19th, student volunteers from the Dallas Food Lounge participated in the Samaritan Inn’s dinner serving program. We helped serving pizza dinner with various side dishes, fruits and desserts. The group was able to serve total of 100 people for the homeless community in Collin County.
November 19, 2022 (Saturday) – Caring Compassionate Hearts and Helping Hands with The Food Lounge, Dallas
On November 19, 2022, 12 Food Lounge members along with 10 volunteers from Cistercian Preparatory School spent two hours in downtown Dallas packing and distributing meals and blankets to the less fortunate.
In total, 180 hot meals with cookies and water and 100 blankets were distributed, and each volunteer displayed an excellent attitude and an admirable commitment to service. Thanks to the hard work of all the volunteers and the support from parents, more people could worry less about hunger or cold and instead focus more on the holidays.

This was our first collaboration with TangoTab Charities Plano. Our student volunteers helped to make 800 sandwiches and pack chips and fruits for those in need in the greater community.

Team Event! On June 28, 15 members of The Food Lounge at the Lovepacs Plano Food Pantry packed 25 boxes worth of food.
Lovepacs Plano is a nonprofit organization that engages communities to feed children with food insecurities as an expression of Love. By providing food through hand drawn boxes, this organization makes sure that not only are the children they serve able to get the food they need, but they also receive their very own box filled with warmth and love from members of The Food Lounge.
Today, members of the Food Lounge once again grouped together and prepared canned food/snacks that they brought to the Lovepacs Food Pantry to decorate and pack into boxes for children that have food insecurities. Through the efficient teamwork and the support of the magnificent Ms. Ritu Gupta, we were able to decorate and pack boxes ready for the people in need. Not a lot of people know that in West Plano, there are actually many kids who do not get dinner everyday and free school lunches are the only way they can get food. As the event’s organizer, I am very grateful for all the people that either donated money for the cause or volunteered.
May 28, 2022 (Saturday) – The Samaritan Inn, Dallas
On Saturday, May 28, the Dallas branch of the Food Lounge hosted an event at the Samaritan Inn. At this event, volunteers participated in the Samaritan Inn’s Bag Lunch Brigade program, packing 81 sandwiches and just as many bag lunches. This event was immensely beneficial to the homeless community in the DFW Metroplex, successfully serving those with food insecurity.
May 15, 2022 (Sunday) – Ledbetter Eagle Ford Community, Dallas
Team Event! On May 15th, 36 members of The Food Lounge participated in its largest event yet at the Colonial Tepeyac Apartments, dedicating a total of 96 service hours!
This event was a grand collaboration between the Food Lounge, the Dallas Police Department, and the Ledbetter Eagle Ford Community Organization (LEFCO), which prides itself on its swiftness to meet the needs of our families in Ledbetter Eagle Ford. Each month LEFCO and its partners help provide food and supplies to seniors and children in our neighborhood.
Members of the Food Lounge along with its collaborators prepared a total of 300 hot meals, 300 pantry bags, and bread, and brought them to the Ledbetter Neighborhood in order to feed the residents there. Through the group effort and the support of the wonderful Ledbetter Eagle Ford Community Organization staff, we were able to serve all the families currently residing in the neighborhood. As the event’s leader, I am very grateful for all the restaurants that sponsored our cause: The Bund, Bella Italia, 369BBQ, TianTian, and Meso Asia. Additionally, I am thankful for the people that donated money and food to this event.

On Saturday, May 14th, volunteers from the Dallas Food Lounge (a non-profit organization) dedicated 2 hours to make 83 sandwiches, and donated extra bread & meat at The Samaritan Inn. Participants took part in purchasing supplies, making, and packing lunch bags for the homeless community in Collin county.
April 24, 2022 (Sunday) – Lovepacs, Plano
Team Event! On April 24th, 22 members of The Food Lounge at the Lovepacs Plano Food Pantry dedicated a total of 51 service hours! Though this was the first collaboration with Lovepacs Plano, we reaped great results.

Team Event! On April 16th, 9 members of The Food Lounge pushed teamwork and aid to new heights at the Samaritan Inn dedicating a total of 23 service hours!
The Samaritan Inn is a comprehensive homeless program that helps willing people gain dignity and independence that is based in McKinney, Texas. By providing shelter, the inn makes sure that all its residents are able to find a safe place to stay throughout the night. By providing food, the inn keeps its residents energized so that they can focus on living.
Today, members of the Food Lounge once again prepared many foodstuffs and brought them to the Samaritan Inn to create sack lunches for the employed residents. Through the group effort and the support of the wonderful Samaritan Inn staff, we were able to efficiently complete 80 meals. As the event’s organizer, I am very grateful for all the people that either donated money or food for the cause.

March 19, 2022 (Saturday) – Lewisville Garden Work Day, Dallas
Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm
On Saturday, March 19, sixteen volunteers from The Food Lounge (a non-profit organization) dedicated 3 hours towards garden work at the Lewisville Community Garden, also known as Rich Lubke Community Organic Garden.
Everyone started their own assigned jobs, some pushing wheelbarrows full of dirt, and others weeding garden beds. Then the Volunteers cut weeds, laid down cardboard to prevent weeds, and re-mulched other garden beds, so that the garden could be primed for the growing season.
This community garden grows and supplies organic produce to the food pantry for Salvation Army, which they use to cook hot meals for hundreds of homeless citizens. Our volunteers hard work was greatly appreciated by the master gardener.

This Wednesday, we went to Samaritan Inn and made sandwiches for the residents. We made 80 lunch bags for them.
February 19, 2022 (Saturday) – Lewisville Garden Work Day, Dallas
On Saturday, February 19, volunteers from the Dallas Food Lounge (a non-profit organization) dedicated 3 hours to garden work at the Lewisville Community Garden. Participants took part in weeding, paving, and more to assist the garden, which grows and supplies fresh produce to the Salvation Army. Every day, the food pantry at the Salvation Army cooks a hot meal for hundreds of homeless citizens, and the Lewisville Community Garden partners with the Salvation Army to lower the cost of the meals. Our volunteers worked diligently so that the garden would be primed for the growing season.
February 19, 2022 (Saturday) — Ledbetter Eagle Ford Community, Dallas
This Saturday, we worked with the amazing people over at Ledbetter Eagle Ford and carried out a food drive in South Dallas. With three teams, including 11 student volunteers, we picked up hot meals from Bella Italia, Ming’s Place, and Kitchen Master. After arriving at the food drive location, we unloaded the meals and were ready to distribute. At the end of the day, we distributed 300 meals, snacks, and drinks to those in need! A huge thank you to the leaders at the Ledbetter Community and everyone involved!

January 4, 2022 – Feed My Starving Children, Richardson
Feed My Starving Children is a non profit organization dedicated to the efforts of eliminating starvation in children throughout the world. On Jan 4th 2022, 12 The Food Lounge Members, ages 11 to 16, along with 3 parent volunteers, participated in this fun packed yet eye-opening experience.
During the one and half hour session, the volunteers hand-packed rice, soy, drived vegetables and a nutritionally complete blend of vitamins and minerals into bags which are then sealed and boxed. With music, laughers and cheering on the packing floor, the volunteers didn’t notice how time has passed. In this session, they packed a total of 23 boxes, or 4,968 meals. These meals can feed 13 kids for an entire year in Honduras. It was an event made the volunteers feeling warm, and the young volunteers also gained a different perspective when they spend on their next meals.
December 18, 2021 (3pm-4pm) – Children Hospital, Plano
Books, Toys and Christmas meals donation
Children’s Medical Center Plano is a children’s hospital located in Plano, Texas. During this event, we brought books and toys for the kids and warm food for the staff. Some volunteers also made homemade cards for the kids that everybody signed. The restaurants that supplied food were Ai Sushi, Chill’D, TKS, and Bella Italia Ristorante. We are very thankful that we were able to help out kids in need during this holiday season. We also want to thank the staff for their hard work.
December 5 & 12, 2021 (3pm-5pm) Emily’s place and Hope’s Door, Plano
Emily’s Place and Hope’s Door, both located in Plano, Texas, are 2 organizations dedicated to providing support for women and children who have suffered from domestic violence. The facilities aim to supply domestic abuse victims with services, commodities, immediate shelter, and emergency hotlines for up to 90 days. Since its founding in 1985, Hope’s Door has assisted more than 18,000 individuals.
On Sunday, December 5 2021, 11 of our Food Lounge-Dallas Chapter members congregated to make cookie jars using flour, baking soda, salt, chocolate chips, brown sugar, and white sugar. The jars, containing instructions on how to make the cookies, are to be delivered to Emily’s Place and Hope’s Door on Saturday, December 11.
November 24, 2021 – Children Hospital, Plano
During COVID -19 we got together to support local restaurants by organizing group takeout orders. This helped the restaurants with ordering and staffing in advance, and a guaranteed revenue stream when most were shutdown for dine-in business. Over the past 18 months, we’ve ordered from 60+ restaurants, many multiple times. To show their appreciations to us and to the community, three of these restaurants EBESU Robata & Sushi, Bella Italia Ristorante, and Tian Tian Restaurant gave us about 250 meals this Thanksgiving at cost to donate to the doctors/nurses/staff at the Children’s Medical Center Plano.
November 23, 2021 – Emily’s Place, Plano
Emily’s Place provides long-term housing that is critical for helping domestic violence survivors permanently escape abuse. It is the “bridge” from a shelter, which typically allows women a safe place for 30 to 90 days, to independent living, free of the barriers preventing them from achieving self-sufficiency away from their abusers.
