Emily Tauhert – Dallas Chapter President

My name is Emily Tauhert and I’m a junior at Plano West Senior High School. I have been volunteering with The Food Lounge since it was formed in the fall of 2021. The Dallas chapter started as a small group of friends just helping the community around them, but it rapidly expanded and is now staffed with over three hundred willing volunteers. As the co-founder of this chapter, I am constantly amazed to see how much we have grown and the enormous impact we have had on our city. When we founded the Dallas Chapter, I knew we were starting something special, but I had no idea it would grow into such an impactful organization that would not only benefit the people it serves, but also myself and my fellow volunteers. This organization has greatly changed my mindset as I see what big a difference a nutritious meal can have on a person’s life and how a group of young students can really make a change. As a volunteer, I have had the opportunity to see firsthand as people’s faces would light up when they were given a plate of food that provided comfort and nourishment. The Food Lounge brings together volunteers, local businesses, and community leaders who share a common goal – that we are willing to work hard to help those in need. That’s why I’m honored to be the Food Lounge Dallas chapter president and to build upon our successes and amplify our impact.
