William Xie

William Xie is a sophomore student at Jasper High School in Plano. He loves playing viola and has served as the principal violist in his school’s top orchestra since middle school. He has been an All Region musician since 6th grade, including being the 1st place All Region violist during 8th grade, and placed in the high school All Region and All State symphony orchestras. He has also won awards such as 1st place in the Senior Music Competition in YCIA Art Festival and 2nd place in JDR String Music Competition.

In addition, William is interested in STEM fields such as mathematics, science, and programming. He is fluent in Java and Python programming and has earned several awards in mathematics and coding competitions in middle school and high school. He also loves writing and reading, especially reading fantasy and sci-fi books.

William loves serving his community through volunteering and leadership. He participates in many volunteering events such as packing and distributing food with The Food Lounge and Feed My Starving Children, tutoring, and volunteering at concerts. He is also part of the ViolaPower ensemble which plays at homeless shelters and senior living houses among other places. William will serve as an Orchestra Officer in Jasper’s orchestra program next year in hopes of making orchestra a big family for every member.
